The Flacks About Diane
Diane Flacks is a writer/actor, dramaturge, story editor, and producer working across theatre, television, radio, and print. Her television writing credits include Workin’ Moms, Baroness von Sketch Show, Young Drunk Punk, Working the Engels, and Kids in the Hall, for which she received an Emmy nomination. She has co-created series for CBC, served as supervising producer on the APTN series Qanurli?/

As a playwright, her fifth solo show, Guilt (a love story), premiered at Tarragon Theatre in 2024 and has since toured nationally. Her four previous solo shows—Myth Me, By A Thread, Random Acts, and Bear With Me—have been critically acclaimed and produced internationally. She has also co-written several plays with Richard Greenblatt, including PALS, SIBS, and CARE, and wrote Waiting Room for Tarragon Theatre. Her play Unholy was a hit for Nightwood Theatre, published by Playwrights Canada Press, Dora-nominated, and filmed for television. She also wrote Luba, Simply, Luba, winner of the Kobzar Literary Award.
As an actor, Diane has appeared in The Lehman Trilogy, Fall on Your Knees, Nathan the Wise at Stratford, and numerous other major theatre productions across Canada. Her work has earned multiple Dora nominations and national recognition. She was a Stratford Playwright in Residence and is currently developing a new play supported by the Elliot Hayes Playwright Award.
Diane has also written extensively as a columnist for CBC Radio, The Toronto Star, and The Globe and Mail, and has written the Dora Awards for the past eight years. She is the proud mother of two sons.
